We've compiled some tips to help you improve your Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating. Please review this advice before we visit your property:

Lighting: Ensure that as many of your fixed light fittings as possible are equipped with low-energy lamps. This simple change can enhance your EPC rating.

Hot Water Tank: If you have a hot water tank, make sure it is well-insulated. Adequate insulation can significantly boost your EPC rating.

Loft Insulation: If loft insulation is not visible—either due to inaccessible loft space or because the loft is boarded over—we are required to report the insulation status as "unknown," which could negatively affect your EPC rating. If insulation is installed, please have any documentation ready to verify it.

Cavity Wall Insulation: Cavity wall insulation can greatly improve your EPC rating. However, if the insulation is hidden by rendering, we must assume there is none, which can lower the rating. Please have any paperwork available to confirm cavity wall insulation.

Double Glazing: If your double-glazed windows were installed after 2002 and the installation date isn't visible on the units, please provide documentation showing the installation date. This can positively influence your EPC.

Boiler Information: I will attempt to identify the exact make and model of your boiler. This allows us to determine its efficiency accurately, potentially leading to a higher EPC score compared to the software’s default setting. Since identifying boiler details visually can be challenging, please have any manuals or service history on hand.

When booking an EPC on your property make sure that you use a fully qualified and accredited assessor.
